Brother 02:43
Brother Well, we were born into a life that has asked us once or twice To give more than we think we have, That put the wall behind our backs; That has tried to drag us down, Raze our spirits to the ground, But we have overcome, We will overcome… Oh brother of mine, Brother of mine, Do not let your heart get crazy, Do not let your soul get weary - Brother of mine Just hold us to you and know we love you, Oh brother of mine We are as strong as mountains As bright as snow caps that touch the sky. Well, I look up at your face, I see the years burn their trace Oh my brother, oh my brother; And I look up into the skies, I see the fire flashing by To tomorrow and yet another tomorrow…

Chose This Road I chose this road years ago When the skies were blue and clear; I chose this road years ago When that mountain still seemed like a hill, Though I've lost count now Of the times I lay awake at night just wondering, Though I've lost count now Of the times I felt myself to be just meandering. I chose this road years ago Come what may I chose this road years ago And it's far too late to change Though I've lost count now Of the times I found myself on the edge of nothingness; Though I've lost count now Of the times I found myself on the edge of paradise. I chose this road years ago for better or for worse. I chose this road years ago When my eyes were wide with wonder; I chose this road years ago When my head was full of storms and stress, Though I've lost count now Of the times I found myself to be just like the pouring rain; Though I've lost count now Of the times I found myself to be just like the morning mist. I chose this road years ago for better or for worse.

Crazy Dog 04:12
Crazy Dog Crazy dog, housebound and chained down, Crazy dog, left alone to hang around - You could howl at the moon if you'd lift your head to see it rising, You could cry, you could croon - get to your feet, stop analysing. Crazy dog, though you’re down on your luck again, Crazy dog, lift your head high again... Crazy dog, still scratching out your living. Crazy dog, still licking scraps up from the floor - You're still waiting for your owner to come back - when she comes back she's going to take you for a walk. Crazy dog, though you’re down on your luck again, Crazy dog, lift your head high again...

October World Spring is out of memory, its light has disappeared And heavy clouds begin to weigh on the shoulders of the world. Mid-winter begins calling, its darkling voice weaves round The roots, the cars, the daylight and the tired leaves that hang; But let the winter roll on and the nights begin to close in And the streetlights start to light up... In this dour and drowsy sunlight my eyes glaze in a trance As the shades of winter seep into everything. The temperature is falling, there is ice within the air, The frost is not long coming and my hands are cold; But let the winter roll on and the nights begin to close in And the streetlights start to light up, the sky become deeper, The stars become brighter, the mist rise from rivers And the moon become whiter, and let the winter roll on... Leaves press against the window, they fill streets, parks and towns; I open up my window and let them fly into the room For when these swiftly changing colours have settled at my feet Love will be revealed like a tree beneath its leaves So let the winter roll on and the nights begin to close in, The streetlights start to light up, the sky become deeper, Stars become brighter, mist rise from the rivers And the moon become whiter; and the forests be touched by The pale light of sunrise, the first frost come and cover This carnival of changes and let the winter roll on, Let the winter roll on, let the winter roll on But let the new year soon come and bring with it a new sun.

My Hibernation The fields were bare, the sun had deserted Dark hills bursting with Autumn As I covered the ground with the skin I was shedding, Washed my sight in the swell of the ocean, Built with my bones a refuge to shelter my soul And watched as the days fell and curled, Were consumed by the soil. The sky became white As absences crowded the earth and the sole movements Were the shadows of migrating birds. I witnessed the world become silent and frozen As a cold wind snapped at the sunlight And winter grew tall on the curving horizon To look over the land with its dead eyes. I covered myself with a shawl made of sleep and began To burrow my way through layers of cold earth And limestone. Through dry bones and clay I clawed And I crawled til I found a core barely formed Still bursting with colour and sound.

On The Border Of Daylight On the border of daylight In the blank world of the dawn A new man's getting ready to rise. His bones ache, his arms stretch, His lungs take a deep breath, He lifts up his head and opens his eyes. He breathes in the lightened air And breath out the dust and waste Of a long and dreamless sleep. As the first shreds of sunlight Falls on his still face The earth becomes fertile, awake and alive. Theres the naming of names, The sending to sleep, The rib taken out on the sly; The waking, the seeing, The longing, the needing, The sudden awakening of desire: There is the promised land In the first rays of morning, And there is redemption in the skies, As every new second Trips over the last one The earth becomes fertile, awake and alive.

Love Is A Simple Thing A tongue is learning how to speak, Hands are learning how to make, A mind is learning how to think, A life is learning how to be. As life begins to flow again, As darkness slips away from sight, The fear that brought my head down low Is breaking up, it’s fading fast. The curtain's tearing into two, Light is entering my eyes, The door is opening from this room - I think I'll take a step outside. Love is a simple thing to give When loneliness is a distant whisper And the blues, just like bad thoughts fading Into yesterdays dusk, are burnt up by the love Of a beautiful woman.

No Going Back We may long for the garden and all that’s been lost, But there's no going back, my friend, It's a willo-the-wisp, a false light in the dark And there's no going back, my friend. What's done is done, what remains, remains But there's no going back, my friend. The past has dissolved in the waters of change And there's no going back, my friend. We could learn a new language, build a new world But there’s no going back my friend We can tie ourselves to the mast or we can fly with the wind But there’s no going back, my friend.
