Journey 05:09
Journey We travelled through the night Towards nowhere I remembered, The turning of the wheels was pulling sleep Into my body. The car was like a womb, The streetlights passed like heartbeats, The past I left behind Was fading but not forgotten. As we drove on, my mind could focus on nothing Because nothing felt real, Just a sense of disorientation - There was nothing to do but abandon myself To the journey, Let the changes wash over, Let them renew and sustain me; And the cities spread their lights As if ports in an ocean of darkness, Gateways to a life Cut loose from soil and starlight. Moment by moment The buildings grew taller, Second by second The skyline went soaring up; Cats eyes and white line slurred by And people were everywhere, The future written on every wall In this new time, This new town, This new home...

Sometime In Midsummer My hand was trembling and my mind began to ache As I sketched the outlines of her face; Memories of what was said one day when I was leaving Bubbled up behind my eyes Sometime in midsummer, Sometime in midsummer, And a world away from where it all began. The hunger for your touch exploded in my chest And would not leave my mind As lines that I had drawn from one hour to the next Began to come alive - Sometime in midsummer, Sometime in midsummer, And a world away from where it all began.

It Was Then That I Saw I had a dream that love was not far away, That she was here in this room sat there listening to me; It was then that I saw a light I had not seen before, New colours from grey, hours become places of space Where time could unfold at whatever pace that it would And the worries I'd found could slip from my shoulders To the ground. She was here for a while, long enough That I asked her to stay in my days, in my nights, in my life.

Walking By The Station I'm walking by the station seeing faces I've never seen before - they’re pushing by my body as my arms reach out to open a door - And I go down the subway where two buskers sing in harmony, and I go up that green hill to where my soul can breathe. The hustle and the bustle of the world that spins around me in the every day -
 faces, people, words fly by me rushing to the office or the market place - I forget to be a free life as the walls high and grey stretch over me; Bar rooms and late night talk, we chew the cud until the dawn. I stare into the distance where funky stallions keep the pace with the cultures beat -
 there's no gold on these pavements, just chalk marks written on stone that the rain washes away from beneath my feet - time thuds and thuds against my head, I stop and take a deeper breath;
 sometimes I wish I was all alone on a desert island far from home... I'm walking by the station seeing faces I'll never see again - some of them could've been enemies but I’m sure many more would’ve been friends -
 and I go down that subway and away from the city streets
 And I go up that green hill to where my soul can breathe...

Old News 04:04
Old News Old news Printed on the places that I see, Old news Written on the faces staring back at me, Old times In every conversation that I have - No, I can’t change the past, I can’t change the past, I can’t change the past, But somehow I’ve got to turn the page over. Old news,
 Well, it’s rising like water around my feet - And, yes, it’s getting deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper,
Old news,
 sometimes I get choked up and I cannot breathe, Old times,
 replaying in my head in the dead of night. No, I can’t change the past, I can’t change the past, I can’t change the past, But somehow I’ve got to turn the page over. You see, there’s old Jim, sat down at his window
looking up to heaven, thinking of his daughter; wondering hows she doing, if she’s thinking of him, remembering how he felt or that he ever loved her? Old news,
 Flying like litter around this street, Old news,
 flows in my veins, it's a part of me, Old times,
 Cutting like the lines into my forehead - No, I can't change the past,
 no, I can't change the past,
but somehow I've got to turn the page over.

I'll See You If I See You Love, oh love, where are you now? Where were you yesterday? I called for you until my voice was raw But I did not see your face. Love, oh love, I hunted you ’Til your trail disappeared - I laid my bait and I lay in wait For what seemed like years. Maybe I'll move on, Set up a new home, Keep a lookout - But what's the point? I will see you if I see you, Unless you see me first. Love, oh love, are you so rare? Are you anywhere? Maybe another man in another time Can find what I can't find...

That Would Be Fine Will she call on Sunday to say she wants to see me? I can't wait 'til I see her again. Could she ever love me? Could she ever love me? Because that would be fine. My mind is distracted, I cannot pin it down - What’s and if’s and but’s and maybe’s, Why’s and where’s and how’s - Could she ever love me? Could she ever love me? That would be fine. There should be some kind of compensation For the man who does not have a clue; There should be some kind of situation Where she might see just who I could be given time, Given chance, given her romancing me. And there goes another Saturday night Just thinking of her. Could she ever love me? Could she ever love me? Because that would be fine.

Ben 03:25
Ben Ben, Ben, You are the most fortunate of men. I saw you yesterday down the street, across the road, looking into each others eyes, not at the weary world and although the day was cold and we were all in coats you gave a special smile to her and the ground beneath you smoked. I saw you walking through the central shopping mall, whatever it was you said to her I could never tell but it sent her spinning like a coin into another world, she went doolally, do la la la la... she went doolally, do la la la la...

Caught In This Love The grass is green, the trees are tall, One moment leaves and another calls; White clouds fly, big birds glide, A church bell chimes and the day is bright And I am caught in this love, Yes, I am caught in this love. But she has not called - I've heard nothing at all - Yes, I am caught in this love. Another day begins to break, The room fills with light and I lie awake. She's everywhere but she's nowhere near - I'm tired of this space, Lord I want her here And I am caught in this love, Yes, I am caught in this love But she has not called - I've heard nothing at all - And yes, I am caught in this love...

New World 04:30
New World You and I we'd spend those hours together
just walking and talking whatever the weather, staring out to the wide horizon,
 letting our dreams fly to where the sun was rising, and it was a new world with new life. I spent those hours in silent thought
trying to catch the wind that someone else had caught, trying to remember that great white light
 that came into my eyes when love came into my life and it was a new world with new life. Time, where is it you have brought me to?
I have only followed you wherever you've led;
 and love, why don't you stick around today,
 I'm tired of this constant chase and of being left behind... Well, there's so many options, opinions and choices, so many words and so many voices,
 so many dreams and so many visions,
so much complexity and far too much division in this new world, in this new life...
